2-dogs History

“2-Dogs History (It's Compelling)”

In memory of Catherine X 1943-2024

Approximately 20 years ago, in the depths of despair and abandonment, two souls named Bruno and Bella found themselves lost in a world that had forgotten them. They roamed the streets, their hunger gnawing at their frail bodies, their hearts yearning for love and belonging. Bruno, weak and weary, collapsed by the side of a bustling road, unsure if he would survive another day. But fate had other plans. A car came to a halt a few yards away, and a kind-hearted lady named Catherine approached Bruno with gentle words and outstretched hands. Fear and uncertainty gripped Bruno’s heart, but he was too weak to resist. Little did he know, that hand offered more than just physical support. It carried a glimmer of hope, a promise of a new beginning. Catherine’s touch marked the start of a transformative journey for Bruno, a journey filled with love, compassion, and a forever home.

Across the road, Bella’s keen senses caught a whiff of something enticing – food. Driven by instinct, she darted towards the scent, oblivious to the dangers that lurked nearby. A sudden impact sent her spiralling into darkness. When she opened her eyes, she found herself in a doggy hospital, surrounded by concerned voices discussing her uncertain fate. The doctors labelled her as a stray, unsure of how to provide the care and treatment she desperately needed. But amidst their uncertainty, one word echoed through the room – Catherine. And so, Bella’s path to recovery began, guided by Catherine’s unwavering dedication and love. Catherine, a woman who had retired to a tranquil villa in Spain, found herself drawn to the plight of countless homeless cats and dogs. Unable to turn a blind eye, she became their beacon of hope, their guardian angel. Her first rescue, Paco, left an indelible mark on her heart, even though his time on Earth was tragically short. It was a bittersweet beginning to a journey that would span over two decades. Catherine’s home transformed into a sanctuary for the lost, the sick, and the unloved. At its peak, 23 furry souls found solace under her roof. But her mission extended beyond her own walls. She established a shelter, tirelessly working day in and day out to care for her rescued companions. Each day brought new challenges, but Catherine faced them with unwavering determination. Her goal was to find each and every one of them a loving forever home.

Through her tireless efforts, Catherine managed to connect these deserving animals with loving parents all over the world. From Ireland to the UK, Germany to Spain, her reach knew no bounds. She even found time to contribute to a Pet Rescue Charity Shop, further supporting her cause. It was within this community of rescued souls that Bruno and Bella found each other, forming an unbreakable bond forged through shared experiences and endless love. But life is a tapestry of unexpected twists and turns. One day, Catherine received an offer from a local orange tree farmer to purchase her beautiful villa. In an agreement that would secure her future, he allowed her to live there rent-free until she and her husband passed away. Time moved forward, and in early 2022, tragedy struck when Catherine’s beloved husband, Tony, passed away suddenly. At 78 years old, Catherine continued to care for the remaining 13 dogs, despite her declining health. An unfortunate accident led to Catherine’s hospitalization, and her loyal friends rallied together to care for her furry family in her absence. However, it became apparent that her health was deteriorating, forcing her to make the difficult decision to return to the UK. For the following two years, Catherine lived with one of her sons, until the day she peacefully passed away in January 2024.

In her final moments, Catherine was virtually penniless. Her money, pension, and the proceeds from the sale of her villa were all invested in the well-being of the 1000+ cats and dogs she had saved, loved, and rehomed. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, the hearts she mended, and the hope she instilled. Catherine, a true hero of compassion and devotion, left an indelible mark on the world of animal rescue. May her memory continue to inspire others to follow in her footsteps and make a difference in the lives of those who cannot speak for themselves. Rest in peace, Catherine (1943-2024). Catherine’s legacy lives on even after her passing, as a new chapter begins with 2-Dogs. Approximately 18 months before Catherine’s departure, a new venture called U-Tags was born. It was a business that manufactured and sold QR code lost and found pet ID tags. However, due to differences in business concepts with my partners, we had to part ways. But I couldn’t abandon all the hard work and commitment I had put into U-Tags. So, with determination and strength, I embarked on a new journey – the birth of 2-Dogs. 2-Dogs was created in memory of my mother Catherine and her ”2 dogs” Bruno, and Bella, with the same concept of QR code pet ID tags but with a significant twist. The mission of 2-Dogs was to give back a percentage of its profits to animal rescue centres and service dog providers. It was a way to continue Catherine’s legacy of compassion and support for those animals who were not fortunate enough to have loving and caring homes.

And this is where I need your help. By purchasing a 2-Dogs tag, we can come together and build a massive community of responsible and caring pet parents. Through this process, we can make a difference in the lives of cats and dogs who are in need. The larger our community grows, the more we can assist fellow pet parents in finding their lost or distressed pets quickly and safely. Moreover, we can provide even more support to registered pet rescue charities and service dog providers, helping them continue their vital work. Your participation in the 2-Dogs community will not only help protect your own beloved pets but also contribute to the well-being of countless animals in need. It is through our collective effort that we can create a brighter future for both our furry companions and the organizations dedicated to their care. Let us honour Catherine’s memory by joining together in this mission of compassion and love. Together, we can make a lasting impact and ensure that no animal is left behind or forgotten. Purchase a 2-Dogs tag today and let’s build a community that not only cares for our pets but also extends a helping hand to those in need.
